Emerald ash borer: four trees must be cut down for safety reasons

Edmundston Energy would like to inform the population that a team will be cutting down four dead ash trees, at the corner of Queen Street and Saint-Jean Avenue, on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, if the weather cooperates.

It is important to note that these trees died due to the emerald ash borer, an exotic insect that has already killed millions of trees in North America. These are large trees, which currently pose a risk to homes, motorists and pedestrians who travel in this area.

The work should take all day, and no detours are to be expected. However, due to the security perimeter established during the work, traffic will be one lane only on Queen Street, as well as on Saint-Jean Avenue. Services (water, sewer, electricity) should not be affected by this work.

Rest assured that these spaces are already registered as Green Spaces sector tree planting sites for fall 2024.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and collaboration during this work.
