The Integrated Law Enforcement Unit and members of the Edmundston Police Force arrested a 42-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman following the execution of a drug search warrant in the City of Edmundston.
During the operation, a significant quantity of narcotics, suspected to be cocaine in powder and rock form, as well as methamphetamine tablets and other narcotics, was seized. Equipment used for trafficking, consumption, and the production of cocaine rocks, as well as a large sum of cash, were also seized at the scene. Police officers also discovered loaded and modified firearms and other weapons.
Both individuals face charges related to drug trafficking and weapons possession. The investigation into this case is ongoing. Since the individuals have not been formally charged in court, their names cannot be released at this time.
The New Brunswick Integrated Law Enforcement Unit is composed of members of the RCMP and municipal police services, as well as employees of the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety. Their efforts aim to intervene in a more coordinated manner to counter organized crime and drug and weapons-related crimes, which are increasingly a concern in the province.
