Start of work on the hydraulic study of the Saint-Jacques sector

Oct 24, 2023

Start of work on the hydraulic study of the Saint-Jacques sector

Over the next few days, residents of the Saint-Jacques sector will notice the presence of survey teams from Roy Consultants in their neighbourhood. They will be surveying property foundation levels. This is the first step in gathering data for a hydrological study of stormwater and sanitary water management.

Residents of the Saint-Jacques sector will also receive correspondence and a survey to get a better idea of the connections to the sanitary and stormwater systems. To accommodate people's schedules and preferences, Roy Consultants will offer three options for answering the survey questions. Afterwards, Roy Consultants employees will visit homes to find out about the connections on each property.

Saint-Jacques residents can also expect to see smoke tests in the next few weeks. These tests are used to inspect water and sewer pipes. Non-toxic smoke is used to detect anomalies in the system. This smoke is clean and poses no risk to humans, animals or the environment, and dissipates after a few minutes.

"We are asking people to take part in Roy Consultants' data collection. That's the only way we'll get a true picture of the infrastructure in the area," explains Mayor Eric Marquis.

Following the extensive damage caused by the violent storm of June 29, the City of Edmundston asked Roy Consultants to help it carry out this study. Data collection should be completed by mid-December.
