Start of work on Saint-François Street on Monday, October 30th

Start of work on Saint-François Street on Monday, October 30th

The NB Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has just confirmed that the contract to supply a two-lane paved road was awarded to Dexter on Monday, October 23. Crews will be on site as of this Friday, and work will formally begin on Monday, October 30.

After the major excavation work to get to the underground infrastructure, the teams will begin construction of the two-lane temporary roadway, with asphalting at the end of November. The bypass is scheduled to open on December 1 and remain in place until a full replacement of the culvert under Route 120 can be completed in 2024.

The Department would like to stress that this is very complex work, due to the depth of the required excavation and the underground infrastructure that was damaged during the major storm on June 29. The Department assures us that the bypass road will be well designed and constructed so that motorists can travel safely in both directions over the winter.

We understand that this situation remains problematic, and we would like to thank the public for their patience and respect for traffic lights during construction as well as the groups working tirelessly to resolve this problem.
