Due to recent temperature fluctuations, the Edmundston Fire & Safety Department wishes to warn residents about the instability of the ice cover and riverbanks.
Temperature variations, combined with the proximity of the hydroelectric dam, make the ice particularly fragile and unpredictable, especially between the Fournier Bridge and the Boucher Bridge.
Important safety instructions:
- Snowmobilers: It is imperative to avoid this area at all times. The risk of ice breakup is real.
- Citizens and pedestrians: It is strongly recommended not to venture onto the ice or approach the banks of waterways, as the banks can be slippery and unstable.
- Pet owners: For their own safety, please keep your pets on a leash at all times, especially near waterways, to prevent them from venturing onto dangerous icy surfaces.
The Edmundston Fire & Safety Department urges you to be cautious and thanks you for your cooperation.
