The Police Force helps out the NB Northwest Region Special Olympics Association

Last Sunday, March 3rd, the 2nd hockey game of the round-trip series opposing the Bathurst Police Force to the Edmundston Police Force, took place at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

This game, although friendly, was hotly contested and ultimately won by the Bathurst team 6 to 3. The first game took place at the Bathurst K.-C. Irving Regional Centre on February 24th, with a 10-4 win for Bathurst.

Close to 400 people attended the second match presented at the Jean-Daigle Centre, which aimed to raise funds for the NB Northwest Region Special Olympics Association, in order to allow the athletes to continue practicing their sports.

Tickets for the association were on sale at Jessome’s la Source du sport, as well as from members of the Edmundston Police Force. Here is the list of winners of this draw:

  • 1st prize: Jersey autographed by Bradley Nadeau of the Carolina Hurricanes (winner: Diane Ringuette)
  • 2nd prize: A pair of Blizzard season tickets (winner: Edmundston Honda)
  • 3rd prize: A pair of tickets for the Edmundston Figure Skating Club show which will take place on March 16th, 2024 (winner: Daniel Cyr)

The proceeds from this ticket sale, the 50/50 lottery during the game, and the generosity of several sponsors made it possible to raise more than $5,000 for the NB Northwest Region Special Olympics Association.

The Edmundston Police Force sincerely thanks all the sponsors who generously contributed to the organization of this match, as well as the spectators who came to support them. A 2nd edition could take place in 2025. (Photo Credit: Percy Picard)
