The City of Edmundston is listening

A survey of the population of Edmundston indicates that close to 90% of citizens are, in general, very satisfied with municipal services.

The survey, which has a margin of error of +/- 4.1% and a 95% confidence level, was conducted in October 2022 among 500 residents. The telephone questionnaires were distributed proportionally among the communities that made up the Municipality of Edmundston at that time. The survey was conducted by Info Res-Source of Trois-Pistoles, Quebec.

"While the results of the survey are encouraging, they also provide us with avenues to follow in improving our services," said Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis.  "This survey is an excellent tool to give us an accurate picture of the population's concerns.”

The survey data clearly shows that people feel extremely safe in Edmundston, either through the services of the Police Force or the Fire Department. In addition, the population considers the quality of the drinking water and the reliability of the Edmundston Energy service to be excellent. Citizens are also very satisfied with the outdoor facilities, such as trails and parks, as well as the facilities, programs, and sports activities.

"Where we see room for improvement is in zoning procedures and the issuance of building permits. This is the case, for example, to help people know when a permit is required, how to obtain one, and when to start the process to obtain one," explains Marc Michaud, Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Edmundston.

All the results of this important survey will allow the municipal council and the municipal leadership team to continue their work in the orientation of municipal services.
