The Edmundston Police Force announces that after an absence of nearly 2 years, the Action Committee for a Drug-Free Community is resuming its regular activities. Committee partners have met to set up a new executive council ready to work in the community.
The committee is made up of addictions and health stakeholders, various members of regional police forces, community stakeholders, regional managers and entrepreneurs, parents, as well as members of Cité des Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany and DSFNO staff. Everyone is working together to develop tools to fight against addictions amongst our youth. The committee not only works to raise awareness of the consequences of this scourge in our community, but also collaborates with Grand-Falls, Kedgwick and St-Quentin committees.
The Action Committee for a Drug-Free Community has the mandate to develop a lasting partnership between the various stakeholders to help reduce the problems of consumption in our community. It initially aims to educate students, parents, employers, and employees of the region about the effects of addictions on their well-being. The committee is also developing several tools, informative sessions, and services to reverse the rise of drug addiction in our region.
The population is invited to like Comité d'action vers une Communauté sans Drogue Facebook page to access information concerning the addiction trends that exist in our community.
During the month of April 2023, the committee will raise awareness about energy drinks’ consumption.
