Edmundston City Council modifies the organizational structure of the Development Department to integrate a housing component

Edmundston City Council modifies the organizational structure of the Development Department to integrate a housing component

Following the departure of an employee as well as the movement of personnel, a review of the responsibilities and tasks of the City of Edmundston's Development Department was carried out.

Given the growing number of projects and workload, and in order to meet the major demands of population growth, improved access to housing and asset management, among others, City Council is modifying the organizational structure of the Development Department.

This will enable the City to dedicate one position to the housing file. The position of Director of the Development Department will be repatriated to the Chief Administrative Officer.

"Our municipality is changing and so are the needs, particularly in terms of access to housing, which is a high priority for City Council. That's why we've reviewed the resources allocated to the Development Department, to make them better able to respond to these growing needs," explains Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis.

As a resource is now dedicated to the housing file, an economic development coordinator position will be added to the department. The duties of the Sustainable Development and Continuous Improvement Coordinator position will be refocused and grouped under a Strategic Management Coordination position.

These changes will not add any new positions to the organization but will enable the city to better meet the objectives of the strategic plan and the resulting actions.
