Snow clearing is a team effort!

Dec 21, 2022

Snow clearing is a team effort!

With the winter season well underway, the Edmundston Police Force and the City of Edmundston Public Works Department would like to remind motorists of the importance of adapting their driving to the road conditions and to be extra cautious when travelling.

The Public Works Department and snow removal contractors are doing everything possible to keep roads in good condition and accessible to everyone, including emergency services, during snowfalls. These operations are complex and require the use of several snow plows and other snow removal equipment to be effective.

"Motorists are asked to be vigilant and attentive when travelling, especially when snow clearing operations are underway. We must all adapt our driving to the road conditions, give ourselves more time in our travels, be courteous and respect the laws in order to ensure the safety of all, including those who work on snow removal," explains Inspector Martin Perron of the Police Force, who adds that limiting travel during snowstorms should also be considered, when possible.

During a meeting with the various snow removal contractors working in Edmundston, it was mentioned that snow removal operations require the collaboration of everyone. "We all work with the same objective, which is to ensure that operations are carried out in a safe and fluid manner to make our roads safe. This is the winning recipe," said Gary Cyr, public road coordinator for the City of Edmundston's Public Works Department.

Wondering where our teams are during snow removal operations? Don't hesitate to consult our "Where's the snow plow?" application to follow the operations in real time!

The Edmundston Police Force and the Edmundston Public Works Department would like to thank the public for their cooperation.
