As part of Fire Prevention Week (October 6 to 12, 2024), the City of Edmundston Fire & Safety Department reminds you that fires can spread in a matter of seconds and have devastating effects, including injuries, destruction of property and loss of life. This week aims to raise awareness of the dangers posed by fire and to inform citizens about the protective measures they can take for themselves and their loved ones.
The theme for this year is: “Smoke Alarms: Let Them Work for You!” » Take a few seconds to test your smoke alarms once a month by pressing the test button, and replace them if they are not working or if they are more than 10 years old. This small gesture can save lives.
To reinforce the message related to the dangers of residential fire, the Fire & Safety Department is launching a series of 4 30-second clips, demonstrating good practices to follow at home, to reduce the risks. Four municipal issues were targeted by the members of the service, namely:
- Avoiding fires on the stovetop
- The importance of smoke alarms and
These capsules will be available on the municipality's website, in the Fire & Safety section-Prevention. They will also be shared on the City of Edmundston’s Facebook page.
