The Public Works Department continues snow removal throughout the city. Priorities remain unchanged but the intervention method had to be corrected following the significant quantities of snow received, i.e. more than 60 centimetres in 36 hours.
“We prioritize snow transport, which means that all of our trucks are under the blowers,” explained Gary Cyr, Public Roads Coordinator. “After completing a first tour of the city, we will return with the grader to finish clearing snow from the streets following these 2 major snowstorms. There could be delays in clearing sidewalks due to equipment breakage,” concluded Mr. Cyr.
On this Tuesday, February 18, during the day, teams will clear snow in various locations, transport snow from parts of Saint-Jacques sector and blowing in various locations to clear the sidewalks. During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, teams will transport the snow from one side of Victoria Street heading downtown.
*Please note that NorthWest Sanitation Services crews were unable to complete recycling bin collections on Monday, February 17 due to the weather conditions. The blue bins will be collected during the week.
We thank you for your cooperation and patience during snow removal operations.
