Snow removal operations: let’s avoid the worst!

Snow removal operations: let’s avoid the worst!

Our Public Works Department snow removal teams operate day and night to ensure the maintenance of our streets and sidewalks, for your safety and the safety of your loved ones. As citizens, you have an important role to play in order to avoid unfortunate incidents in connection with snow removal operations.

It’s very important to explain to your children that it is not safe to dig tunnels or build structures in snow banks near the streets. Instead, designate safe spots on your property where they can play in the snow.

Here are a few other tips to follow:

• Do not clutter the sidewalks with garbage and/or recycling bins allowing space for snow removal machinery.

• Be careful when driving near snow removal vehicles. Like all heavy machinery, they have large blind spots.

• Warning! Snow removal vehicles often have to move forward and backward to do their job. Stay visible to the operators of these vehicles.

• Make eye contact with the driver to ensure he is aware of your presence. If in doubt, stay away from the vehicle.

Thank you for your collaboration and stay safe!
