During its regular public meeting, the municipal council approved a project to continue repairing the water and sewer system of certain Edmundston-East streets. This project is part of the Integrated Bilateral Agreement between the federal and provincial governments for which funding was announced in July of 2022.
Work is planned on Dionne Street (between du Pouvoir Street and Morin Avenue), Morin Avenue, René-Bouchard Street, Fred-Fournier Avenue, and Mgr.-Numa-Pichette Blvd (between 44th and 47th Avenue). This work consists of replacing water mains and installing new sanitary and storm sewer pipes. It should also be noted that a complete reconstruction of the road surface is planned following this work, which constitutes phase 1 of the project to be carried out in 2023. The work of the 2nd phase of the project will be concentrated in 47th Avenue, in 2024.
"This project will make it possible to separate the sanitary and storm sewer networks in this sector, while improving the quality of drinking water, fire protection and the pavement on these streets," explained Richard Daigle, Public Works Department Director.
“Soon, Public Works Department will meet the residents of this sector in order to explain the project before starting the work,” concluded Mr. Daigle.
