The City of Edmundston and the Edmundston Police Force, in partnership with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, invite the public to attend an information and discussion session on hate crimes and incidents.
The session aims to promote a better understanding of these realities, to empower victims and witnesses, and to support a collective approach focused on dialogue, prevention, and social cohesion. The session is intended to be open, inclusive, and accessible to all. It aims to bring together citizens, organisations, entrepreneurs, institutions, and partners around a process of dialogue, understanding, and prevention.
Date: Monday, January 19, 2026
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Centre Jean-Daigle, mezzanine
Guest speaker is Craig Upshaw, a nationally recognized expert on hate crimes and a former detective, currently a trainer with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
The session aims to clarify what hate crimes and incidents are, to better understand certain acts and their impacts, to equip those present with the steps to take as victims or witnesses, to demystify the role of institutions, particularly the police, and to create a safe space for listening, dialogue and collective learning.
The meeting will include a presentation followed by a discussion and networking period. The session is open to the entire community. No registration is required.
