The Edmundston City Council has just approved the appointment of Mr. Steve Robinson as Director of the Edmundston Police Force. Mr. Robinson will officially take office on April 28. He will replace Mr. Alain Lang who is retiring.
An inspector with the Edmundston Police Force since October 2018, Mr. Robinson has 22 years of service with the organization, where he has held positions such as sergeant on the patrol section; investigator on the investigation section; investigator on the street crime section; investigator on the Bathurst-Edmundston Anti-Drug Unit; and patrol officer.
"Mr. Robinson has a proven track record in policing and has a wealth of professional experience and training that greatly benefits the Force. We are confident that Mr. Robinson will use his experience and leadership to advance our police force. We would like to salute the exemplary work, professionalism and dedication of current Chief Alain Lang, who will soon be entering a well-deserved retirement," explained Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis.
Mr. Robinson has numerous awards to his credit, including the Police Exemplary Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada, a Commanding Officer's Commendation for Outstanding Service from the RCMP's J Division Commander, and the Organized Crime Enforcement Task Force Award, presented in Washington, D.C., for his role in a major North American drug export investigation.
