The Recreation and Sports Department as well as the Edmundston Police Force are asking for the public's support in reporting cases of vandalism that occur too often in our sanitary facilities.
The public bathrooms located near municipal parks have been accessible to the public for a month now, and our teams already had to repair broken equipment – replace entire toilets, clean up fecal matter, replace paper holders, etc. Vandalism has been a recurring problem in our sanitary facilities for too long now.
These sanitary facilities are made available to our citizens, our families and our children. The repair and/or replacement of this sanitary equipment means that our teams must close these facilities to carry out the work, which is also extremely expensive for taxpayers. The time and money spent to erase the traces of this vandalism is costly for everyone.
We therefore ask for the collaboration of everyone to denounce these acts of vandalism. If you see someone lurking around the facilities who appears to have bad intentions, or if you catch someone in the act, please call the Edmundston Police Force immediately at 506.739.2100.
The Recreation and Sports Department, as well as the Edmundston Police Force, thank you for your collaboration in resolving these distressing situations.
