A search leads to several charges against a 42-year-old Edmundston man

On Friday April 5th, 2024, Edmundston Police Force members, EPF street crime section, with the support of NB Integrated Provincial Law Enforcement Unit members, executed a search warrant in a St-François Street apartment, in Edmundston. During this search, a 42-year-old man, Jessy Jimmy Bernier, was initially arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Following the search, charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation were also filed against him. The 42-year-old man appeared before a judge at the Edmundston Provincial Court on Monday, April 8th, 2024, to answer to these charges. Mr. Bernier is currently detained at the Madawaska Regional Correctional Centre and will have to appear again on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., for his release hearing.

During the same intervention, a 19-year-old individual was also arrested at the scene, and could possibly face charges of trafficking methamphetamine.

Note that the Integrated Provincial Law Enforcement Unit is constituted of NB Department of Justice and Public Safety members, municipal police forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police members as well. This unit was created to fight drug-related crimes in the province.
