Launch of the 3rd edition of the Edmundston participatory budget: one idea, $75,000 to make it happen!

The City of Edmundston is officially launching the third edition of its participatory budget, an initiative that gives citizens a say in imagining, proposing and choosing a promising project for their community, while deciding how part of the municipal budget will be invested. This year, a single project will be selected and will be eligible for funding of up to $75,000.

New this year: project proposals must be submitted via the brand new Dialogue-Edmundston citizen platform. Interested parties must register on the platform to submit an idea and then take part in the vote to determine the winning project.

The proposed projects must be innovative, new and aimed at the well-being of the whole community. Whether they involve urban development, cultural projects, sustainable development or social initiatives, the possibilities are numerous, as long as the idea benefits as many people as possible.

"The participatory budget is a great example of local democracy in action. Every citizen has the power to imagine a project that could transform our city for the better. And this year, with the new Dialogue-Edmundston platform, we're making the process even simpler and more accessible," said Mayor Eric Marquis.

The period for submitting ideas runs from May 21 to July 2. From July 3 to August 31, a committee made up of citizens, elected officials and employees will pre-select and analyse the projects received to ensure their feasibility. In the fall, the public will be able to vote on a maximum of five projects that have been selected following analysis and presentations by the proposers. Full details of the eligibility criteria, deadlines and selection stages are available on the Participatory Budget page of the municipal website and on the dialogue-edmundston platform.

Together, let's shape a project that will make a real difference for Edmundston!
