Our Green Patrol for this summer is Maëlie Couture, a student from Edmundston, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Thomas University this year, with a double major in criminology and international relations, and a triple minor in human rights, political science and economics. After completing her studies, she wants to work in the community, either in a not-for--profit organization or in a governmental department and then continue her master's studies.
Maëlie is very active in student life, among other things, she has worked as a residence advisor, media arts studio assistant and, in the fall, will act as director of communications for the student association. She has always been interested in environmental issues and hopes that her role within the Green Patrol allows her to make a positive difference in the community.
As a Green Patrol, her number one goal this summer is to be present in the community, by participating in events, organizing activities or simply creating educational materials to raise awareness. Her work will be based on the strategic objectives of City of Edmundston's Environmental Action Plan, more precisely by focusing on the four main pillars: recycling, water conservation, awareness of the devastating effects of zebra mussels for our waterways and the importance of trees in our community.
You can reach Maëlie by email patrouilleverte@edmundston.ca or by phone at: 506.739.2103
