Residential Recycling

New regulations in New Brunswick have transferred the financial and operational responsibility for recycling from regional service boards, entities, and First Nations to organizations that produce and sell packaging and paper, under Circular Materials organisation.

Circular Materials is a producer responsibility agency responsible for implementing and managing the new extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling system in New Brunswick. The agency aims to advance the circular economy—where materials are collected, recycled, and returned to producers for use as recycled content in new products and packaging.

As an organization focused on implementing improved recycling systems, they ensure that more materials are integrated into the circular economy, benefiting both people and the environment.

The transition to this new framework began on November 1, 2023.

Before throwing out any object or material such as a computer or a TV, please consult RecycleNB, to know where you can dispose of them.

Due to the expanded territory resulting from the amalgamation of the Local Service Districts (LSDs) of Saint-Jacques, Saint-Joseph, and the Village of Rivière-Verte, collections now take place every two weeks instead of one.

Garbage Collection

Every two weeks, from January to June and from October to December, you must put out your recycling bin and your garbage bin at the same time at the curb, the night before your collection day.

During the warmer months, from June to October, garbage is collected weekly, and recycling is collected every two weeks.

It is very important to place your bins on either side of your entrance, or 2 meters apart, with openings towards the street and handles and wheels towards the house, to facilitate collection by trucks with mechanical arms.

For more information, please contact the Edmundston Public Works Department at 506.739.2103 or by email at requetes@edmundston.ca

During all other times, you can get a Tipping Fee Waiver like the one shown at right, which lets you get rid of your larger items at no cost and at the time you see fit. You will need to insure transportation to one of the collection sites.

You can receive a waiver by CLICKING HERE or by calling 506.739.2119. You can also drop by City Hall and you'll receive one immediately.

For a slight fee, Gallant Entreprises can pick up your large objects. You must call them directly at 506.739.9390

Hazardous Waste Collection

The CSRNO offers residents the opportunity to dispose of their empty or expired containers of hazardous waste. Three such collections are held each year at the Public Works Department, 75 Morneault Street in Edmundston. Here is the link to the list of hazardous products that should never end up in your recycling or garbage bins.

Green Waste Drop-Off

There is a designated area on Titus Road where you can dispose of your branches, grass clippings, and fallen leaves. These materials should not be placed in regular or special collections.

View your collection calendar for the upcoming curbside pick-up dates for larger items.
