Springtime is coming!

Apr 14, 2026

Springtime is coming!

After a seemingly endless winter, we're all eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring! Residents of the City of Edmundston can track the arrival of warmer weather by monitoring street cleaning in real time. Thanks to our user-friendly web-based geographic application, it's possible to locate municipal equipment, just like you can track snowplows during winter.

"Our teams are ready and eager to get our streets sparkling again. To make tracking easier, our main maintenance vehicles are equipped with GPS systems that update their approximate location every minute," explains Public Roads Coordinator Gary Cyr. "To ensure an intuitive experience, each machine is identified by a unique icon. By viewing the unit number directly on the map, residents can see the progress of the work in their neighbourhood as operations move forward," adds Mr. Cyr.

To access the interactive map, simply click the "Where's the street sweeper?" button in the Quick Access section of the City of Edmundston's website, or the "Street Cleaning" link located in the Services - Public Works section - Springtime operations. The application is accessible via computer, tablet, or smartphone. A user guide is available upon opening the application to help users interpret the data.

Edmundston remains among the leading municipalities in the country to offer this type of technological transparency, the result of close collaboration between the Development Department's geomatics team and the Public Works Department. Street cleaning operations for the 2026 season officially began this week.

Special collection for bulky items, is also approaching, during the last two weeks of May. If you wish to dispose of your large items before this period, you can obtain a tipping fee waiver by completing this form. Please do not place your large items at the curb on the Sunday before your scheduled collection week. Click here and enter your address to access your collection calendar.
