Connected to its citizens, the City of Edmundston places the development of innovative, far-reaching communications at the heart of its vision of an open city.
The city owns four digital signs. These signs stand out from conventional signage.
The four digital signs are located :
In the Saint-Basile sector, on Principale Street, in front of the Madawaska Centre;
In the Saint-Jacques sector, on Isidore-Boucher Blvd, in front of the car wash;
In the Verret sector, on Saint-François Street, opposite Magasin Général Gallant;
In the Rivière-Verte sector, on rue Principale, near the old municipal building.
The common denominator is their strategic location, near high-traffic public areas.
The digital signs are designed to inform Edmundston residents about emergency situations and municipal issues (news, activities, events, campaigns, services, programs, etc.). They are also intended to help raise the profile of the community. To this end, accredited organizations, public partners and government bodies are authorized to post messages of interest, in accordance with the objectives of the policy.
All requests must meet the following criteria:
Digital signs are first and foremost reserved for municipal services. Their messages take precedence.
Digital signs are not intended for commercial or profit-making purposes. Private companies may not submit requests for publication.
The applicant must officially represent an entity with which he or she is affiliated (e.g. employee of a non-profit organisation). Publication requests made in the name of or on behalf of an individual are refused.
Fundamental respect for the principle of neutrality must be observed. Any request for a publication from an entity of a partisan, political, religious or commercial nature will be refused.
Only recognized non-profit organizations (NPOs) that work on the Edmundston territory or for its population, or that meet the latter's eligibility criteria, may submit a publication request. Any request for publication from a non-profit organization that is not on the list of recognized organizations will be refused.
The City may evaluate certain specific posting requests and grant an exception.
Publication requests from government bodies and the city's public partners are accepted. They are given priority status.
The text must appear at the optimum height in an image 240 pixels wide by 216 pixels high and the publication must be submitted in .jpg or .png format.
Requests must be submitted no later than 15 days before the date the message needs to be posted.
Requests are processed in the order in which they are submitted: the City will respond first to requests submitted first.
The City of Edmundston reserves the right to reject any request, for any reason whatsoever.
