To reinforce the message related to the dangers of residential fire, the Fire & Safety Department is launching a series of 4 30-second clips, demonstrating good practices to follow at home, to reduce the risks. Four municipal issues were targeted by the members of the service, namely:
- Avoiding fires on the stovetop
- The importance of smoke alarms

Public education includes all age groups, whether through visits to fire stations, or prevention sessions offered in nursing homes, schools and other establishments on municipal territory. Each year Fire & Safety Department develops new partnerships with regional organizations to support them in their activities. Training is also offered, particularly on fire extinguishers and automatic cooking hood extinguishing systems.
Several other programs concerning public education are offered (evacuation practices, prevention kiosks, visits to various clienteles, etc.), as well as risk analysis in the territory and inspection of commercial and industrial buildings.
