Weather alerts for Edmundston and Madawaska County

The City of Edmundston advises residents that weather alerts are currently in effect for the Edmundston region, from this afternoon until late this evening. Current conditions are conducive to the development of dangerous thunderstorms that could produce:

- strong gusts of 90 km/h or more

- torrential rain, with some 30 mm of rain per hour or more

- hail up to the size of a dime

- a low risk of tornadoes, primarily in Madawaska and western Restigouche County

- possible power outages

- flash flooding

We ask that you store any items and equipment that could be swept away by strong winds and precipitation. If you live along a waterway, be sure to secure your boats and ensure your docks are securely anchored. Also, have a 72-hour Emergency Kit on hand to be prepared for any eventuality.

Rest assured that the municipality is on alert and that municipal teams are ready to respond in the area.
