2025 Participatory budget: first phase successfully completed

The City of Edmundston is pleased to announce that the first phase of its 2025 participatory budgeting process has just been completed with strong citizen participation.

Under the theme “Your idea. Your project. Your city.”, citizens were invited to submit their suggestions on the “idea wall.”

A selection committee was then formed to evaluate the proposals received. In accordance with the established rules, ideas of a strictly entrepreneurial nature were deemed ineligible, while community-based projects were selected for analysis. These will be evaluated according to specific criteria to determine which ones will move on to the next stage of the process.

“Edmundston's participatory budget aims to give the population a direct voice by allowing them to propose and prioritize projects that meet their needs and aspirations,” said Russell Tchiloemba, Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Edmundston.

The municipality would like to warmly thank all those who submitted ideas and remind them that the process is ongoing.

Citizens will be called upon to mobilize again in subsequent phases to vote for the projects that are important to them.
