Municipal offices closed for the day of commemoration of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Following federal and provincial guidelines, the City of Edmundston's administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 19, 2022, to commemorate the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Municipal services in operation on September 19, 2022 are the following

  • Recreational buildings

  • The Fire Department

  • Police Force and 911 Communications Centre

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Blaine Higgs have both declared September 19th a National Day of Mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth on September 8. As such, Canadian and New Brunswick government services and schools are closed to mark this day of remembrance.

"The municipalities of New Brunswick are following suit, considering that Queen Elizabeth II was a constant presence in our lives, who has marked the history of Canada in many ways over the past 70 years," explained Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis.

Flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings in Edmundston until sunset on the day of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
