Installation of a temporary bridge on Saint-François Street starting Thursday, July 6

Starting on Thursday, July 6, and for an undetermined period of time, the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure will be installing a Bailey bridge (temporary) on the section of Saint-François Street that collapsed following the exceptional storm on June 29th. 

The temporary bridge will ease traffic flow between Edmundston and Haut-Madawaska. 

During the work, it will be impossible to walk on the nearby sidewalk because of the safety risks involved. 

Once the Bailey bridge has been installed, Saint-François Street will be open to one lane of traffic, managed by temporary traffic lights.

It is currently impossible to say whether the temporary bridge will be able to support the weight of heavy trucks. Analyses will be carried out following installation to specify its load capacity.
