Edmundston Police Force makes two arrests for outstanding warrants

On Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, members of the Investigations Section and the Provincial Integrated Enforcement Unit made two arrests at a residence on Canada Road in Edmundston.

The police first went to the residence to execute an outstanding warrant for the arrest of 34-year-old Danny Couturier, for assault with a weapon causing bodily harm. Arrest warrants were also active against him for unpaid fines in previous cases.

While the police were executing the arrest warrant for Danny Couturier, 26-year-old Brandon Lee Levasseur was also arrested at the scene, in possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. The police obtained a search warrant to further investigate the residence, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs as well as a considerable amount of money.

Both men appeared briefly before a Provincial Court judge on Wednesday July 26th, 2023. Danny Couturier is facing charges of assault with a weapon causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, and death threats. Brandon Lee Levasseur was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation.

The two men are currently detained until their next appearance for bail hearing, scheduled for July 31st, 2023, 1:30 p.m. at the Edmundston Provincial Court.
