Former neighbourhood sign locations light up for the Holidays!

Former neighbourhood sign locations light up for the Holidays!

The City of Edmundston is breathing new life into the locations of old neighbourhood signs, which will soon become bright and festive landmarks for the holiday season!

Over the next few days, the old signs, which have become obsolete and are in very poor condition, will be removed to make way for large Holiday decorations. These installations will illuminate the entrances to neighbourhoods and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. Over time, these spaces will evolve towards other community and decorative uses, while new digital panels now ensure the dissemination of local information and the identification of neighbourhoods.

"These signs have been a part of our landscape for many years and bear witness to the history of our neighbourhoods," said Mayor Éric Marquis. "We want to highlight their importance while giving these locations a new lease on life. The Holiday decorations will bring the community together in a festive spirit and mark a positive transition toward the modernisation of our living environments."

This initiative is part of the City's communication tools modernisation project, which began earlier this year. The new digital community display boards, now installed and fully operational, ensure more up-to-date and interactive communication with citizens, while preserving the unique identity of each neighbourhood.

Through these initiatives, the City of Edmundston is pursuing its goal of fostering a sense of belonging and local pride, while making its public spaces more vibrant and modern.
