Following an announcement by the provincial government, eligible Edmundston Energy residential customers will receive a 10% rebate on their monthly electricity consumption starting in January.
The provincial government is currently working with NB Power, Saint John Energy, Edmundston Energy and the Perth-Andover Electric Light Commission to administer the rebate, which will be displayed as "10% GNB Rebate" on electricity bills. Customers will receive the rebate automatically, without having to apply for it.
The rebate is available to residential electricity customers (domestic dwellings) who pay HST on their residential electricity bills. Note that the rebate applies only to electricity consumption and not to service or rental charges. For people on an equal instalment plan, the rebate will apply to the actual costs of the billing cycle. It will be up to customers to adjust their Equalized Payments Plan payment accordingly.
The rebate will come into effect on January 1st, 2025, which means it will apply to electricity consumed from January 1st onwards.
The average customer can expect to save around $216 a year.
The provincial government introduced this affordability measure to provide much-needed relief to many New Brunswickers struggling to absorb the rising cost of living.
