Members of the municipal council are delighted with the appointment of Ms. Martine Dufour as Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie Organizing Committee president. The 45th Jeux de l'Acadie Final will take place in Edmundston at the end of June 2026.
“The organizing committee is responsible for organizing the Jeux de l’Acadie final by following the policies of the Board of Directors and recruits members of the work Committees to ensure the organization of Jeux de l’Acadie's Final. In the upcoming months, the committee's mandate is to recruit members of different support teams and volunteers, who will work together to bring this project to reality,” said Recreation and Sports Department's director, Mr. Daniel Cyr.
Martine Dufour is originally from the St-Basile sector. She has been teaching elementary school for 21 years, following her graduation from l'University of Moncton. Throughout school and university, Martine was always involved in student life. After her graduation, she gave her time to the community. In 2007, she began her adventure as a member of the Madawaska-Victoria delegation of les Jeux de l'Acadie.
After holding a few positions during several Jeux de l'Acadie finals, she decided to run as Chef de Mission for the Madawaska-Victoria delegation. She stayed in post for 10 years.
In 2015, she decided to join L’ Association des enseignantes et des enseignants francophones du N.-B. (AEFNB) as well as the Fédération des Enseignants du N.-B., where she held several positions within numerous board of directors and committees. Mother of a 15-year-old hockey player, she also held the position of Edmundston Minor Hockey Club team manager.
Remember that Société des Jeux de l'Acadie's mission is to develop Jeux de l'Acadie's movement to contribute to the development of French-speaking youth in the Atlantic provinces through sporting competitions and cultural activities. The Société des Jeux de l’Acadie is a group of regional committees and a Board of Directors which intervene directly or indirectly in the development of sport and the arts among French-speaking people in the Atlantic.
