The Edmundston Police Force is asking for everyone's collaboration for this Halloween to be fun, while staying safe.
For parents and children:
- Make sure your children remain visible, no matter what costume they choose. Put reflective strips on their costume, give them glow sticks or even a flashlight.
- Ask your kids to avoid masks so their vision is not obstructed. Also check the length of their costume to prevent them from tripping.
- Pay attention to motorists. Walk one side of the street at a time and look on both sides before crossing.
- Protect your home while you are away. Lock doors and windows.
For people who give candy:
- Make sure the exterior of your home is well lit so that little ones can easily access your door.
- Make sure your driveway, stairs and railings are safe in order to avoid falls.
- Avoid lighting your Halloween decorations with candles. Costumes, paper and straw decorations can easily catch fire.
- Keep your pets at a distance.
For motorists:
- Please slow down and pay special attention to the little costumed ones who will be walking our streets this Halloween.
Please note that there will be no pumpkin pit-stops this year. On the other hand, the Recreation and Sports Department invites you to the Sports Pavilion on Sunday, October 29th for its Halloween activity. Details are here: Open house to celebrate Halloween!
The Edmundston Police Force will increase its patrols on municipal territory during the evening, and thank you in advance for your collaboration.
