The Police Force would like to advise dog owners that the 2024 tags are now available. According to article 10R2023, dogs residing in Edmundston territory must hold a license and a tag.
This makes it possible to identify the dog and its owner, if the animal should find itself wandering.
3. The owner of a dog:
(a) shall hold a valid dog licence pursuant to this bylaw;
(b) shall register such a dog within 30 days of acquiring it;
(c) shall register such a dog annually with the municipal official, on or before the first day of March against payment of the licence fee as set out in Schedule A;
(d) shall produce, at the time of registration, a certificate stating that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies;
(e) shall keep attached, always, to the dog collar, the medallion received at the time of registration.
4. The dog licence is valid until December 31st of the year it is issued.
5. All assistance dogs must carry a licence for the year. However, licence fees are waived.
Licenses and medals are on sale at the following locations:
- Edmundston police force
- R.L.Tropical
- Madawaska Veterinary Hospital
- Pet Value
- Madawaska Shelter
The cost of a medal for an operated dog is $10, for a non-operated dog $25 and for a dangerous dog $200. For more information, please contact the Police Force at 506.739.2100.
