In the next few weeks, Edmundston residents may receive a call from a survey firm, whose services have been retained by the municipality, to find out the concerns and satisfaction rate of the population regarding municipal services. The last such survey was conducted in 2002.
"A survey of this size and nature points us in the ways to improve our services. It is one of many tools that will give us an accurate picture of the concerns of citizens. In fact, we strongly encourage people to take the survey if they receive a call," explained Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis.
The survey will be conducted between September 21st and early October. The firm hopes to contact 500 citizens, which will provide an excellent level of confidence. The telephone questionnaires were distributed proportionally in the communities that make up the City of Edmundston. It was developed by a municipal team in collaboration with Info Ressource, a firm established in eastern Quebec since 1989.
The telephone survey research allows the public to be questioned according to precise demographic data. All calls are made from the Info Ressource call centre. Respondents' telephone numbers are randomly selected and their identity is not disclosed to the municipality.
The results of this large-scale survey, which should be known by the end of October, will allow the municipal council and staff to continue their reflection on the future of the municipality, and on the directions the Municipality of Edmundston should take in terms of action plans.
