Sewer network smoke testing

Jun 21, 2022

Sewer network smoke testing

If you live in the area shown on the map attached, on Route 144 and other streets between Shawish Street and Roland-Grondin Avenue, you may notice strange smoke coming out of the roof vent stack on your neighbour’s house or from manholes this Friday June 24th. Don’t worry!

The City of Edmundston is conducting a physical survey of the water and sewer system. Use of a non-toxic smoke blown into the system helps detect problems. This smoke is clean, harmless to humans, pets, or the environment and does not create a fire hazard. The smoke will clear within a few minutes with proper ventilation. To avoid getting smoke in you house, make sure all your P-traps have water in them.

Testing will be conducted on Friday June 24th. If you have any questions, please consult the Q & A smoke testing guide.

Also, you can subscribe to the City of Edmundston Voyent Alert application in order to receive notifications directly on your electronic devices.

The City of Edmundston thanks you for your understanding.
