A community partnership that rolls!

The partnership between the Edmundston Region Automobile Dealers Association and the Edmundston Police Force, established several years ago, aims to provide the community police with a friendly looking car.

For Tonia Roussel, Community Police Officer, this type of program allows awareness and makes for positive prevention. “The vehicle is only used for positive community purposes and is never used for law enforcement purposes. Rather, it serves as a tool for promotion and to create a link with the community. This vehicule is never involved in operations such as pursuits or issuing tickets. In addition, the friendly look of these community patrol cars allows us to get closer to young people, » explains Tonia Roussel, Community Police Officer.

Car dealers, for their part, say that they have everything to gain by joining the program, since it gives them good visibility. They say it's also a great way for them to help prevent crime and improve the quality of life in Edmundston.

By becoming a program partner, each dealer agrees to provide a car to the Police Force for a period of three to six months. It was Edmundston Hyundai's turn to lend a vehicle to the Police Force, which is well identified as the community police patrol car, showcasing fall colors.
